 Research Projects

The research projects comprise the study of immature morphology of insects in general and of Coleoptera in particular. The Coleoptera order consists of about 25,000 genera and 350,000 cosmopolitan species; around 5,000 genera and 30,000 species being known in Brazil. The primary focus is on the Elateroidea, mainly the Elateridae family, which includes cladistic analyses of various groups. She also develops studies on the bioluminescence of Pyrophorini, involving a multi-disciplinary approach to a better understanding of the origin and evolution of beetle’s bioluminescence. They also include two main subprojects: Studies on Neotropical Coleoptera Larvae and Systematics, Phylogeny and Biology of Elateroidea / Elateridae.
